2018-19 Tournament 1: Pasco, November 3

With only eight competitors for the first tournament of the year, Chiawana was still able to capture the first place trophy for small teams at the Pasco High School Tournament. Congress Captain Linh Truong led the team with a first place in Open Informative Speaking, second in Open Congressional Debate, and second in Open Program Oral Interpretation. Debate Captain Saige Johnson followed with second place in Big Questions Debate (with partner Amy Walker) and third in Open Expository Speaking and Open Editorial Commentary. We also have some very enthusiastic and talented novices. Amy Walker took first place in both Novice Editorial Commentary and Novice Humorous Interpretation. Alison Pettey was first place in Novice Tall Tales, and Briana Castro took first with a perfect score in Novice Dramatic Interpretation. Four students—Conner Mahaffey, Ulises Bruno, Victor Soriano, and Alison Pettey—competed in their first ever Congressional Debate. I was parliamentarian in that ch
